what can i expect during a service?

Regardless of which service you attend, our services are about 60 minutes in length.

8:30 AM
This service begins with our Praise Band leading us in singing some songs (which the lyrics will be projected onto monitor at the front of the Sanctuary, so you can sing along if you wish). Feel free to engage with our worship service however you feel comfortable. After the music portion of the service is complete, our Senior Pastor will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus.

11:00 AM
Our 11am service is similar except music is led by Mineral Baptist’s choir. We also offer Children’s Church during this service for children ages Kindergarten through Grade 2.

We do collect an offering at each service, but do not feel obligated to put money in the offering plate. We encourage you to fill out a contact card and put in the offering plate as we would like connect with you in the upcoming week.

Our nursery is available at both service times.

what kind of church is mineral baptist church?

Mineral Baptist Church is a Baptist church connected with the national Southern Baptist Convention, the state Baptist General Association of Virginia, and the regional Goshen Baptist Association. While we are partners and affiliates of these organizations there are no groups or leaders who lead the church from the outside. Our connection with all three organizations is for the purpose of collaborating on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ here locally and around the world through financial support for missionaries as well as direct, personal involvement in mission trips and other local ministries. MBC is led by leaders from within the church.

when i attend for the first time, where do i go?

When you arrive Sunday morning, enter the large parking lot (coming from the direction of the train tracks - 522 North - it will be the first entrance on your left; coming 522 South it will be the second entrance on your right). The first building you approach is the main building where our worship services are held.*

The second building (the one with the giant light up cross above the doors) is our Family Life Center. The smaller white church adjacent to the main building is our Historic Sanctuary. Both of these buildings host small group Bible Studies/Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM. (Sunday School classes are currently meeting online during COVID).

*Currently, in compliance with the recommendations by the governor and the CDC for social distancing and best cleaning practices, we have moved to one Sunday morning service at 10:00 AM in the Family Life Center. We have seating available inside the Family Life Center, the lawn beside it, and you can hear the worship from your car in the parking lot as well.

i have kids...

We love our children and want our children to grow up loving God and loving church, and at Mineral Baptist we make this a priority. We also make your children’s safety a priority.

On Sunday mornings, we do have check in processes for our nursery and Children’s Church (Children’s Church – 11:00 AM service only) as well as our Children's Sunday School classes. The check in station for our nursery is right outside our sanctuary where our nursery is located.*

The check in station for Children’s Church is in the sanctuary in the front on the right side of the space where our keyboard and drum set are. The Sunday morning nursery and Children’s Church are for kids from birthday through Grade 2.

Kids in grades 3-12 are encouraged to worship in the main service with their families. However, you will see many of our kids in this age range helping and serving in a variety of ways such as readers, ushers, a/v workers, and musicians.

Birth-5th Grade
If you have kids and their ages range from birth to fifth grade, on Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM, we offer age appropriate classes in our Education Wing (the part of the main building closest to the Historic Sanctuary). Our Greeter Team is available to assist you in locating the right class and getting your children checked in.

We also offer AWANA from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM every Wednesday during the school year., Learn more about MBC Children's Ministry HERE.

Student Ministry (6th-12th Grades) - Mineral Baptist Church Student Ministry (MBCSM)
On Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM, MBC has age appropriate classes in the Family Life Center. On Wednesday nights, MBC has Wednesday Night Youth Group for all Middle School and High School students from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the Family Life Center. In addition, MBCSM has a full schedule of events, experiences, and cross-cultural mission trips that help students take steps in owning their faith in God and joining God on His mission. Find out more about MBCSM HERE.

*Currently, in compliance with the recommendations by the governor and the CDC for social distancing and best cleaning practices, there is no special in-person programming for children and students. There is special digital content available for both ministries via the links above.

i don't have kids...

For those arriving without kids, please join us in the Sanctuary at either service and consider attending one of our 10 adult classes ranging in ages and topics at 9:45 AM (our Sunday School Hour). If you are unsure of where to start consider our "Discover Mineral" class or ask a member of our Greeter Team.

What should i wear?

Wear what you'll be comfortable wearing. You will see people, including staff, dressed relaxed and casual as well as in suits and ties. Our Senior Pastor normally wears a suit only "because it is easy".
